All instructors have a legal duty of care to their members. It is an industry and insurance requirement that all martial arts instructors have current first aid qualifications. However, so many don’t, which puts both the instructor, and organization, at a huge risk of negligence. Most significantly, it puts your students and greater risk of incorrect handling of an injury.

First Aid certification is required to be updated or renewed every 3 years, whilst the CPR component need to be updated ANNUALLY.

The unit of competency HLTAID011, along with HLTAID009 (CPR) provides students with the skills and knowledge to effectively provide emergency response and apply basic life support.

All martial arts instructors, coaches and officials need to be first aid trained and qualified. This not only meets insurance requirements, but most importantly, protects the safety of your members.

Topics covered include life support, management of casualty(s) and incident management until the arrival of medical or other assistance.
