Qualification Description

This qualification reflects the role of individuals who apply the skills and knowledge to undertake a career as an athlete at a regional, state or national level in a specific sport in the Australian sport industry.

Athletes at this level may have access to match-payments, prize money, grants or endorsements as the primary source of their income.

This qualification provides a pathway to work as an athlete. Individuals with this qualification train for events, work with coaches and support staff, compete in sport at a regional, state or territory level and undertake promotional duties.

They possess a range of well-developed skills where discretion and judgement are required. They are responsible for their own outputs under the guidance of a coach.
